THE BLOG POSTS.

Hey all,

There's still a LOT to be written for the second season, but I'm happy to report that I've just finished writing the first draft of the script for the second season premiere. It's WAY too long, but it's pretty funny.

In the next few days I'll likely post an already-rewritten nightmare sequence that Jason has near the beginning of the episode. It was rewritten because the initial version would've been a little bit impractical to film.

Also, the psychotic raccoon is one dog collar away from being complete!

Hey all,

I just added a few more t-shirts and a new mug to The Store, so check 'em out! There're some season 2 logo designs up there, as well as the first of what will likely be a line of redesigned "Diab Says" shirts, with the slogans from the first season on them.

Check 'em out!

I had planned on making this more of a proper beta, but the site loads, I fixed the few bugs I could find, so welcome!

I hope you like the new site. Take some time to poke around; aside from being shiny, there's a whole lot to do. And we're working on a fun screencast-esque kind of thing to give you a heads-up on all of the functionality.

And now, since the new site is up and everything, I've pushed it to live.

Enjoy!

I've been very hard at work on this site in the past few weeks, and I'm pretty proud of how it's looking, AND I think it's ready to go into beta.

Great, right?

All of the season one episodes are up, but I've still got to add the majority of the behind-the-scenes bits for season one, and some of the extra stuff (The Colbert Puppet Challenge Stuff, the Gideon Talks Stuff, and others), but I'll be dropping that in over the next few days.

So why put it "live" without all of the content in place? Because this is all old content, basically, and the main focus at this exact moment is getting the site up to serve as a platform for releasing season two content, which I'll be shifting back to (initially it'll be a lot of making-of stuff, but I'm also working on some cute little stuff featuring the new puppets).

Also, a big reason for launching the new site so far in advance of the new season is the other functionality: there's the blog, of course, and the forum, but there is also the Horror Story section, which I'm hoping will be a very popular section of the site. The hope is that you come back to see more and more tales of Office-place woe, commisserate with your colleagues, and laugh at startling corporate ineptitude.

And when you're here, you check out the video.

This is the dream, anyway.

So welcome to the new site! Go to the Forum if you have feedback (you'll have to register, but it's free to do so, and according to The Fan Club there'll be a whole lot of free stuff coming down the pipe) that you'd like to share; we'd love to hear it!

Nobody's reading this yet, but I figured I'd keep all of you updated on what's happening, in any case, because eventually someone will read this, and they might find it passingly interesting.

I'm adding the content to the site, which is to say the episodic content, which is taking a while, as I've got to build a list of titles, descriptions, and content links. It's neither fun nor glamorous, but necessary. Also, the episode display page looks pretty good, I think, and will look better with the full list of episodes in it.

I am currently juggling two feature lists. One I'm referring to as "dotBoom 2 Site," which is my main list of thigns to do for this site, and the other I'm referring to as "dB 2 Post-Beta." (These are the project names I'm using in OmniFocus) dB 2 Post-Beta was initially a list of things I would do after I had enough of the site done to put it into the test environment (which is where it is as I write this), but now that the "beta" of the site is up, the list is becoming one of things to do after the site is made live.

And so right now I'm going through the list, seeing what I feel is necessary for the proper launch. I am adding more and more stuff to the "dotBoom 2 Site" list, partly because I'm insane, and partly because I want to make sure the good first impression is made: while none may scoff at a lack of advanced forum functionality (I built the forum myself, as I built all of it, so that I could get an "easy" unified login system), if there's no "Forgot Password?" button, scoffing will be the order of the day.

The main things left to do visually are the headers. Right now you can see that it's just a static image, but they will be short little animated pieces, without sound, giving a bit of spit and polish to the site (and probably playing host, mucho-post-launch, to some ads, if I get sponsors for this bastard). Beyond that (there are about four different headers to make, though many of them will be based on the "main" header) I've got some tweaks to the forum to make (currently when you post a comment, your user info/number of posts is displayed, but if you start a topic, no such information is displayed), in the text across the site (some of it is still FPO), some minor changes to the horror story submission system, and I need to add a Fan Club section of the site, because there's going to be a Fan Club of a sort, and while there won't be the full range of Fan Club content at launch, I want to give a tease about what's coming up.

Post Launch, it'll be a bunch of new forum functionality, and these very special keywords: ECARDS, WEBCOMIC, and TELETHON.

If you go here, you can see the new/old cast listings. As we're in the middle of rebuilding the puppets, there are several photos that are now out of date; those will be replaced soon enough, but I wanted to get something down in the short term.

Missing from this page is the guest-star listing (which was never complete on v1 of this site, because I'm a slacker). I'll be adding that, and probably adding a season 1/season 2 thing, as some guest stars won't be back, some performers won't be back, and some characters won't be back (also, there will be new characters for season 2).

Also, some of you may notice that Dan Klass is listed under Cast now. He got a promotion. Congratulations, Dan, you earned it!*

*"it" refers to the status, not a paycheck, as the pay for both crew and guest stars is the same, being a staggering $0 (in US funds!).

Hey everybody,

First: Welcome. Second: How are you?

The site isn't yet done; I'm going to be polishing some stuff, adding new features (dropping all sorts of cool moderator-y stuff into the forums, as just one example), and of course adding the pre-existing video content into the site.

Also? The header graphics are totally going to get animated. OLD SCHOOL.

And, yes, I'm slightly hyper. Excited that the site's in a shape to put online, because I'm pretty obscenely happy with it (moreso because I designed and built it myself; that's right, the new dotBoom.ca is 100% Brian Hogg).

What's my point? Well, be kind, and if you happen to come here before much content is in place, please don't rake me over the coals for it. If you happen to come across a bug (visual or functional), please go here. If you have any feedback, you can respond to this post directly, or respond in the forums, here. Also, if you think there's an obvious missing feature (I can think of dozens off the top of my head), you can tell me here.

Thanks. I hope you dig the new site!
